Name:John Quincy Adams
Political Party:Whig
Date of term: 1825-1829
Vice President:John C. Calhoun
I would give President Adams a C for his presidency because although he did have many goals for the country, while he was in office there wasn't many things accomplished. He did not get known for anything during his presidency.
Some of the goals that Adams had while in office was the development of arts and sciences. He helped financed the scientific expeditions because he really believed in the advancment of that. In order to do all of this Adams wanted to build a national university. One of the first things Adams wanted to do when he became president was to unite the United States together by using government funding creating highways and canals. He also supported the expansion of the Cumberland road. He wanted to bring the United States together. Some of these goals though, weren't accomplished because his ideas were rejected. Some of his other goals and achievments were before or after his presidency when he was in Congress.
His relationship with Congress wasn't the best because he wanted to pass some of his ideas to congress such as Federal internal improvements, a uniform bankruptcy law, federally supported educational and scientific institutions, and the creation of a department of the interior. However, all of those ideas were rejected. One good thing he did with Congress though, was appoint two of his men to be included in the Panama Congress. This was not easy though because some Congressmen thought that it wasn't a good idea.
The most positive outcome of Adams presidency would have to be when he made the national university. He made lots of scientific and economic development. His most negative outcome while in office would be when he signed the Tarriff of Abominations. The south and the New Englanders weren't happy because their manufactures weren't going to get protected.
Adam's didn't really change anything for future administration while he was in office. Overall in his office he increased nationalism across the U.S. But, nothing major really happened.
In conlusion, i think that Adams should deserve a C because even though he had good intentions at the start nothing really fell through as planned.
